Spirit of The Sitar: Melodic Music Evening
Djarot fell in love with, and started to learn, sitar during a trip to Varanasi, India in 2004 and has played ever since. His long-term love affaire with the sitar is apparent in his accomplished technical playing and his obvious flair with the instrument. He has played in festivals and other venues throughout Indonesia.
His idea is to revive the value the art of ancient music (kuno) in Indonesia, integrating the traditional styles and influences of the Hindustani culture, which has a growing impact on the whole Nusantara Indonesia. The multiculturalism of Indonesia society is a source of inspiration for Djarot to create new compositions for these contemporary times.
Djarot shares with us his expression of the melodic Indian instrument, the sitar. Experience a pleasant evening at Dapur Usada enjoying the subtle sounds of the rhythmic sitar as a calming backdrop to your evening.
