The Story of Nyepi
Agung Rai of ARMA
Nyepi known as Balinese New Year, is one of the most cherished days on the mystical island of the gods. Also known as the “Silent Day” when the entire island comes to a standstill; airport, ports, roads, businesses are all closed and residents are asked to remain in their homes and self-reflect. Our Usada forum talk prior to this year’s Nyepi will be presented by our knowledgeable friend Agung Rai of the ARMA Museum. Pak Rai will offer an inside look at both the history and the intricacies of Bali’s favorite day of introspection.
Pak Agung Rai, the founder and owner of ARMA Museum, has dedicated himself to collecting, studying and preserving Balinese and Indonesian culture. As a native Ubudian he will offer us an intimate look into the rich and cultural diversity of Bali and the exceptional days in Balinese daily life.
